Feeding Companion podcast

As you may know, a baby's early experiences and significant relationships are really important for building a healthy brain. Long before they are talking with words, our children are communicating (listening, observing, and learning!), and caregiving routines can be a powerful opportunity for connection.

One modern challenge to this type of deep, responsive connection is the fact that smartphones are everywhere - and they are designed to keep our eyes and attention at all costs. Meanwhile, babies' fundamental needs have not changed, and there are some real risks to optimal development that come with distracted caregiving.

That's the problem we are trying to LOVINGLY solve, with a specially designed Feeding Companion podcast. We aim to meet new mums right where they are - on the couch, feeding Baby!

I can’t wait to get this up and going for you! I’m working on it, I promise!

Forget the opinions, listen to an expert.

Her background working with children and families extends more than 30 years, and includes infant care, innovative research, and international advocacy. Her career has involved kindergarten teaching, university lecturing, and a lot of play. She is the mother of two great girls and an auntie to many.

Miriam believes that relationships and play are the most important things in the world. OK, that and vegetables.

My producer and I have spent a year working on this, and we have managed to create prototype episodes.

A focus group of helpful mums have previewed them, and here is some of their feedback:

“It makes you feel like you can include your baby and just gives you that wee reminder of connection with the little one!”

“you do so well to include different things that are actually helpful to hear!”

“Your podcast calmed me as my baby can get quite fussy and demanding during a feed, allowing me to stop stressing and reminding me to focus on this beautiful bonding time”

“I loved this. I loved the way you encouraged us to be more present throughout the episode, tuning into our bodies and our babies.”

"Please make more of these!!"
